Dear Editor, Earl Apel's analogy regarding attitudes about homosexual fornication and his own struggle with prejudice regarding his friend's innate orientation to left-handedness seems to make sense on the surface. But Earl's dexterous sophistry needs to be exposed for its innate sinister nature on several levels. First, while left-handedness is genetically determined, there is absolutely no credible evidence that homosexual orientation is innate (see the excellent discussion of claims to the contrary in Satinover's book, Homosexuality and the Politics of Truth). Second, I do not know of any sexually transmitted diseases spread by promiscuously writing with one's left hand. On the other hand, the facts speak for themselves about the rate of all manner of disease rampant among those engaged in promiscuous fornication – and this goes for both heterosexual fornicators and those engaged in sodomite practices. Third, nowhere in the Bible, God's Holy and inspired word, is there one word describing human left-handedness as a departure from God's good creation, nor left-handed behavior (such as writing) as sinful. The same cannot be said for sodomites and sodomy. In fact, just the opposite is true. Fourth, if it be prejudice to hold fast to God's Word in the face of human rebellion and sinfulness... including the rant for normalizing sodomite perversion... well, call me prejudiced – "for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Accept it or reject it, God has spoken: all homosexual behavior is both unnatural and sinful – it is also forgivable and repentable through faith in Jesus Christ and the life-transforming power of the Holy Spirit. Its normalization has absolutely no place in the true church of Jesus Christ, as it is written: "For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, and not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God" (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5). and "But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints" (Ephesians 5:3). Nice try, Earl. But we're not buying your argument. "There is a way that seems right to man, but its end is the way of death." We prefer God's Word – the path of life. When will God's faithful people say "Enough is enough"? Rev. Bill PawsonWestminster Church Canton, Ohio back to Presbyweb's Home Page Copyright (c) 2003 by the author or Presbyweb.
